Mastering Multi Location Filming
When a project spans multiple locations, it demands more than just cameras and crew - it requires planning, flexibility, and a team who knows how to bring a cohesive vision to life no matter how many miles are covered. Recently, we had the opportunity to put these strengths into action for a new client, who needed three distinct videos filmed across several different locations.
It was the perfect example of why having an organised, skilled and adaptive production team matters.
The blueprint of a multi location shoot
As soon as we took the client on board, we dove into storyboarding. When a project involves different environments, lighting conditions, and visual styles, it’s essential to map out each scene with clarity.
We worked closely with the client to understand the purpose of each video, the tone they wanted to convey, and the unique characteristics of every location. From there, we sketched out detailed visual plans so that no matter where we were filming, every shot aligned effortlessly with the overall narrative.
Wherever your story needs to be told, we’ll be there - camera in hand and vision in focus.
Preparation
Multi location filming can easily become complex - but with the right preparation, it becomes a smooth, well orchestrated operation.
We scheduled each shoot day with precision, allowing ample time for travel, setup, creative direction, and multiple takes. We coordinated with each location in advance, ensured we had the right permissions, and double checked that we had the equipment ready for the type of footage we needed at every stop.
Because our team is accustomed to working on the move, we adapted quickly to each environment - whether it was adjusting to changing weather (we are in Britain after all!), shifting lighting, or navigating tight timelines.
Equipment
Each location presented its own visual opportunities and challenges. To capture the best possible footage, we selected different cameras and stabilisation equipment tailored to each environment’s needs.
From static setups for tight interior shots to mobile rigs for moving outdoor scenes, we made sure every frame was shot with purpose and precision. Our team’s technical expertise allowed us to work efficiently while maintaining the highest standard of quality across all three videos.
Editing
Once the filming is wrapped up, we swiftly headed back to the office where we sift through the footage to start editing the videos together!
No project is too big or too small
This recent project reminded us why we love what we do. Whether you need one video or a series of films shot across multiple locations, our team is ready to rise to the occasion. Multi location shoots don’t intimidate us, they energise us.
They challenge us to think creatively, plan smartly, and bring our best skills to the table.
